It’s been a busy summer entertaining friends and showing them around south central. I finally have the time to catch up on your articles, although I read your NYT pieces with great pride. Your writing speaks to me in so many ways. You remind me to appreciate what we have here in Anchorage, you encourage me to try new eating spots and recipes, but most of all I get a sense of we are all in this together and that provides a sense of peace and contentment. Your piece about your son just wanting to ride his bike is priceless. I remember the feeling in the early 1970s riding bikes with friends to the 7-11 for the first time and buying a slurpee. Thank you and keep writing.
Gretchen is truly a unique person! I can see clearly why you cherish that friendship. I think you should give yourself a pat on the back---your life is very full and demanding! Maybe you can check out of the "mayhem" for an hour a week and meet up with a friend for a walk, coffee, whatever. Add that to your weekly planner!
